Child-Like Faith

The heart of a child
Expressed in their eyes..
A smile of happiness;
A tear when that dies.

Unbridled attention
They freely bestow
Upon every person:
Their faces aglow.

I see why our Father
Wants us to be
More like a child..
Our love truly free!

So happy! So carefree!
So gladly we’ll kneel,
In front of our Father,
Our love way too real!

This poem was inspired by the mission trip that some young people from my church had taken the summer of 2010.  They had been ministering to the orphans of Romania and as I listened to the details of their trip, I was captivated by how truly innocent the heart of a child can be!  Jesus did not tell us in vain to become as little children in order to enter His kingdom.  May our hearts truly cultivate the child-like faith that so pleases our heavenly Father!
